ABOUT US

Founder: Vanesa L. Contreras

As the Founder of Airquality Movement Inc., I am passionate about advocating for affordable housing and employment opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community and multicultural individuals. With a background in social services, nursing, obtaining an AA in psychology and lived life experiences, I have dedicated my career to addressing the systemic barriers that many individuals face in accessing housing and employment.

My journey began when I faced significant life challenges of my own. Transitioning from a nursing assistant to confronting homelessness was an extremely traumatic change. Not only was I unprepared for survival, but I also encountered barriers within my support system when coming out as part of the LGBTQ+ community. As a Hispanic woman from a strict traditional household, my family struggled to adjust, ultimately forcing me to leave the place I once called home. Experiencing homelessness served as powerful catalysts for change, leading me to dedicate my life to help others navigate the complex challenges of homelessness. My life experiences ignited my commitment to creating positive change and led me to enroll in a program that guided me to where I am today. My path began as a social service worker, and I have continued my education in order to offer my knowledge, resources, and my entire heart to the community, because together we can achieve great things.

My Vision

I believe that individuals in the LGBTQ+ community and those from multicultural backgrounds deserve a safe place to live and the opportunity to succeed. My vision is to create a supportive environment where individuals can thrive, backed by programs designed to help them rebuild their lives. I firmly believe that housing and employment go hand in hand. By providing affordable housing and equipping individuals with essential job-seeking tools—such as resume building, mock interviews, and job application assistance—our team will work diligently to prepare them for employment, enabling them to sustain their housing. This will result in long-term stability.
